Teprve o 130 let pozd\u011bji byly dal\u0161\u00ed schr\u00e1nky na dopisy rozm\u00edst\u011bny po V\u00eddni a rok 1817 lze pova\u017eovat za v\u016fbec prvn\u00ed ofici\u00e1ln\u00ed datum ve\u0159ejn\u00e9ho vyu\u017e\u00edv\u00e1n\u00ed schr\u00e1nek v monarchii Rakousko-Uherska. Tehdy byla k dispozici v\u017edy jedna d\u0159ev\u011bn\u00e1 krabice v bl\u00edzkosti CK po\u0161tovn\u00edho \u00fa\u0159adu.\t\tB\u011b\u017enou sou\u010d\u00e1st\u00ed vybaven\u00ed m\u011bst a obc\u00ed se tyto boxy na dopisy staly a\u017e od \u010dervna roku 1850. Byly pak postupn\u011b rozm\u00eds\u0165ov\u00e1ny do ru\u0161n\u00fdch ulic a n\u00e1ro\u017e\u00ed, kde se pohybovalo v\u011bt\u0161\u00ed mno\u017estv\u00ed lid\u00ed. Po\u010d\u00ednaje rokem 1873 byly boxy z\u0159izov\u00e1ny i na domech starost\u016f m\u011bst a vesnic a v roce 1899 za\u010dal prvn\u00ed pra\u017esk\u00fd provoz potrubn\u00ed po\u0161ty, byly k tomu vyu\u017e\u00edv\u00e1ny speci\u00e1ln\u00ed bedny nat\u0159en\u00e9 na\u010derveno. Potrubn\u00ed po\u0161ta pro expresn\u00ed a leteck\u00e9 z\u00e1silky byla v provozu prakticky nep\u0159etr\u017eit\u011b, zm\u011bnil se pouze vzhled schr\u00e1nek na \u010derven\u00e9 krabice s modr\u00fdm a b\u00edl\u00fdm pruhem, d\u00e9lka t\u00e9to s\u00edt\u011b byla na konci 20. stolet\u00ed p\u0159ibli\u017en\u011b 60 kilometr\u016f. Soustava potrubn\u00ed po\u0161ty v Praze zanikla po ni\u010div\u00fdch povodn\u00edch v roce 2002, ale v sou\u010dasn\u00e9 dob\u011b se intern\u00ed syst\u00e9my tohoto druhu odes\u00edl\u00e1n\u00ed z\u00e1silek pou\u017e\u00edvaj\u00ed nap\u0159. v r\u00e1mci n\u011bkter\u00fdch nemocnic.\t\tD\u0159ev\u011bn\u00e9 boxy nahradily plechov\u00e9 krabiceOd poloviny 19. stolet\u00ed se schr\u00e1nky na dopisy vyr\u00e1b\u011bly ji\u017e z ocelov\u00e9ho plechu, kter\u00fd chr\u00e1nil antikorozn\u00ed n\u00e1t\u011br. Zhruba o 20 let pozd\u011bji s rozvojem smaltoven byl n\u00e1t\u011br nahrazov\u00e1n smaltovanou vrstvou z k\u0159emi\u010dit\u00e9ho p\u00edsku a v t\u00e9 dob\u011b ji\u017e byly v\u0161echny boxy jednotn\u00e9. M\u011bly stejn\u00fd tvar i barevn\u00e9 ozna\u010den\u00ed, li\u0161ily se pouze svou velikost\u00ed podle m\u00edsta nasazen\u00ed \u2013 v\u011bt\u0161\u00ed byly nasazeny ve velk\u00fdch m\u011bstech a v m\u00edstech velk\u00e9ho provozu.Po vzniku samostatn\u00e9ho \u010ceskoslovenska byla jejich barva modr\u00e1 a tento styl se udr\u017eel a\u017e do roku 1963, tehdy se jednotn\u011b v\u0161echny m\u011bnily za nov\u00e9 kusy, jejich\u017e vzhled zn\u00e1me dnes \u2013 oran\u017eov\u00e9 s logem spoj\u016f .
